A Love of Music
Music has always been more than background noise in my life—it was the soundtrack of my relationship with my daughter. From arguments over what generation has the best music to moments where a song said what words couldn’t, music became a shared language that connected us across generations. I grew up on the rock songs of the 1980s and 1990s, and as I watched how powerfully music shaped our bond, I knew I wanted to find a way to give back to the art form that gave us so much. That’s when the idea for United By Rock was born: what better way to unite generations than by celebrating the music that defined them together in one massive rock “mob” experience. When I shared the idea with Mary, she immediately saw its potential and jumped in—bringing the vision to life through her talent for composing and arranging, and helping turn a personal passion into a community-driven movement.
United By Rock will begin with a single performance in Wilmington, Delaware, bringing together local musicians and community members for an unforgettable rock “mob” experience. This first event will serve as both a celebration and a proof of concept—demonstrating how music can unite people across generations while creating meaningful impact. Through donations, national partnerships and community support, our goal is to raise money and awareness for youth music programs while also building a sustainable model that allows United By Rock to grow beyond Wilmington, helping other cities host their own United By Rock events. By sharing resources, arrangements, and a proven framework, we hope to empower communities nationwide to come together through music and use that collective energy to support youth music programs in their own cities.
